I don't want to take dollars from the family food budget

Has the government thought about this?

What about women who are trying to return to work from being a parent? Women who are trying to retrain after having children?

There's no good avenue for this now.

There are lots of mums out there like me and, you know what? We don't put ourselves first. I won't spend money at TAFE; on me getting ahead before I spend money on my children.

If I paid increased TAFE fees I'd have to rearrange the family budget - and spending that sort of money on my education would be hard to justify. Where do I find the dollars? From the family food? From the kids sports lessons?

I was in office administration before I had children and with that sort of job you really need to retrain so often.

It's hard enough as it is without the extra worry of more cost to bear.

I second that Amanda! It's hard enough for us single mums already without rising fees at TAFE!
I was looking into doing a tafe course next year or 2011, as I want to get back into the workforce after raising my kids for a good while now. With these prices, I dont even think I can do it too be honest.

This is just another burden for single mums on top of everything else they have to deal with in life. When will the time come when they are cut some slack or even supported instead of being discouraged from retraining and training?
